The Outpatient Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications to ambulatory patients accurately and safely, providing medication counseling, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations to promote optimal therapeutic outcomes and patient safety.

طبيعة العمل والمهام المطلوبة

Key Responsibilities

1. Medication Dispensing

• Review
  and verify prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
• Dispense
  medications according to approved prescriptions.
• Ensure
  correct dosage, route of administration, and duration of therapy.
• Check
  for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.

2. Patient Counseling

• Educate
  patients on proper medication use, dosage instructions, and potential side
  effects.
• Advise
  patients on medication adherence and safety precautions.
• Respond
  to patient inquiries related to medications.

3. Medication Safety

• Report
  medication errors and adverse drug reactions in accordance with hospital
  policies.
• Ensure
  safe handling of high-alert medications.
• Adhere
  to patient safety and infection control policies.

4. Inventory Management (Outpatient Pharmacy)

• Monitor
  medication availability and stock levels.
• Ensure
  proper storage conditions and monitor expiration dates.
• Assist
  in forecasting medication needs to prevent shortages or wastage.

5. Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure
  compliance with Ministry of Health (MOH) and Saudi Food & Drug
  Authority (SFDA) regulations.
• Follow
  hospital pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain
  confidentiality of patient information.

6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Communicate
  with physicians and nursing staff regarding prescription clarifications or
  modifications.
• Participate
  in quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy.
• Support
  continuous improvement of pharmacy services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor
  of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
• Valid
  license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
• Previous
  experience in outpatient pharmacy is preferred.
