The Dentist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing oral diseases and conditions, ensuring patients maintain optimal oral health. The role encompasses general dentistry procedures, patient education, treatment planning, and collaboration with dental assistants and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care

. Patient Examination & Diagnosis
- Conduct
comprehensive dental examinations of patients, including oral health
assessments, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests. - Identify
dental conditions, diseases, and abnormalities such as cavities, gum
disease, infections, malocclusion, and oral cancers. - Develop
accurate diagnoses and discuss findings with patients
2. Treatment Planning
- Develop
individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and preferences. - Discuss
treatment options, procedures, and expected outcomes with patients. - Coordinate
with specialists for cases requiring advanced care (orthodontics, oral
surgery, endodontics, periodontics).
3. Preventive Dentistry
- Perform
routine cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. - Provide
guidance on oral hygiene practices, diet, and preventive care. - Educate
patients on the importance of regular check-ups and preventive measures.
4. Restorative & General Procedures
- Fill
cavities and restore decayed teeth. - Perform
extractions, root canal treatments, crowns, bridges, and dentures. - Treat
gum diseases (scaling, root planing) and manage oral infections. - Perform
minor oral surgeries as needed.
5. Cosmetic Dentistry
- Conduct
procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, and aesthetic
restorations. - Advise
patients on cosmetic treatment options to improve appearance and function
6. Pediatric Dentistry (if applicable)
- Provide
dental care to children, including preventive and restorative treatments. - Manage
behavior and provide guidance to children and parents for oral care.
7. Emergency Dental Care
- Provide
urgent care for dental emergencies such as trauma, pain, abscesses, or
infections. - Stabilize
patients and coordinate further treatment if required.
8. Record Keeping & Documentation
- Maintain
accurate and up-to-date patient records including treatment plans,
procedures performed, and follow-up instructions. - Document
clinical findings, radiographs, and progress notes.
9. Collaboration & Supervision
- Work
closely with dental assistants, hygienists, lab technicians, and other
healthcare professionals. - Supervise
and train junior dentists, interns, or dental students if applicable. - Coordinate
referrals to specialists when needed.
10. Compliance & Safety
- Follow
infection control protocols and sterilization procedures. - Ensure
compliance with Ministry of Health (MOH), Saudi Food & Drug Authority
(SFDA), and professional dental regulations. - Maintain
a safe and hygienic clinical environment.
11. Continuous Education & Professional Development
- Stay
updated with the latest dental technologies, techniques, and best
practices. - Attend
conferences, workshops, and professional development programs. - Implement
new methods and technologies to improve patient care and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor
of Dental Surgery (BDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD/DDS). - Valid
dental license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) or
relevant authority. - Strong
clinical and diagnostic skills. - Excellent
communication and patient management abilities. - Ability
to work under pressure and manage multiple patients efficiently.
